Quality

Quality is instilled in everyone at Fosta-Tek Optics with 100% emphasis on teamwork. Through teamwork  and the use of highly specialized equipment and processes, we are able to produce high quality precision optical lenses while offering competitive prices to our customers

ISO Certified

Fosta-Tek initially became an ISO9001 certified company in 2005.  We are now officially certified to the new ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System standard.  This certification demonstrates that our quality system provides effective management of internal processes to meet rigid international quality requirements.  Through a multifaceted, continuous improvement program, we strive to improve our overall performance daily.

Quality Assurance Lab

We are continuously updating our Quality Assurance Laboratory with the latest state-of-the-art equipment.  This equipment gives us the ability to accurately monitor and control the quality of our products through each step of the manufacturing process.  Our Lab has full ANSI Z87.1, MCEPS, NIOSH and EN166 test capabilities as well as testing to ASTM procedures.

Optical Testing, High Speed/Ballistics Impact, Abrasion Testing, Chemical Resistance and Environment Weathering

Each project is implemented with an approved quality plan which outlines all manufacturing processes, testing, packaging and shipment to the customer.  The Quality Department utilizes four on-site labs equipped with the latest cutting edge equipment for required testing of optical, abrasion-resistance, ballistic, high impact and dimensional performance.  Whatever requirement needs to be achieved (ASTM, MCEPS, NIOSH, NFPA, EN, CSA or other), the Fosta-Tek engineering, manufacturing and quality team will help you meet your needs.

  • Optical Power, Prism and Astigmatism can be evaluated and verified to meet national and international standards using the Fosta-Tek Optical Scope.
  • Spectral measurements on the resin's performance for Ultraviolet Transmittance, Chromaticity and Neutrality using one of our PE Spectrophotometers.
  • Luminous Transmittance, Haze and Clarity on molded and coated optical products.
  • Surface Analysis for shape and smoothness by multiple interferometers configured specifically for the end product.
  • Dimensional and Visual Inspections are performed at regular intervals per the pre-approved quality plan and include, but, are not limited to calibrated measuring devices and microscopy.
  • Accelerated weathering tests for Solar Radiation, Humidity, Temperature and Shock, and UV Weathering are done in accordance with ASTM Test Standards and MIL-STD-810.
  • Ballsitics testing is performed on Spectacles, Goggles, Faceshields and Respirators to meet MIL-STD-662 using T-37 projectiles as well as ANSI, CE, EN and AS/NZS requirements.
  • Coating performance is verified using abrasion resistance testing devices such as Taber Abraders, EN166 Anti-Fog and FTO Sandstorm Simulator.
